Online Seminar on “SME Financing in Bangladesh: Do Local Banking Market Structures Matter?” held03-11-2021
Dhaka, 02 November, 2021:
A half day long online seminar was held at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) on 02 November, 2021. Mr. Ahmed Jamal, Chairman of BIBM Executive Committee and Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank was present in the seminar as the chief guest. Dr. Ashraf Al Mamun, Associate Professor & Director (Research Development & Consultancy) of BIBM delivered welcome address. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Director General of BIBM Chaired the Program.
A paper “SME Financing in Bangladesh: Do Local Banking Market Structures Matter?” was presented in the seminar by Dr. Md. Mosharref Hossain, Associate Professor of BIBM. Other members of the research team are Dr.Ashraf Al Mamun, Associate Professor & Director (Research Development & Consultancy) of BIBM; Dr. Md. Mahabbat Hossain, CIPA, CSAA; Assistant Professor of BIBM; Suman Chandra Saha, Assistant General Manager of SME Foundation; Ishtiaque Ahmed Rahat, First Assistant Vice President, & Head of Markets and Business, CMSE Department of Bank Asia Limited.
Dr. Barkat-e-Khuda, Dr. Muzaffer Ahmad Chair Professor of BIBM & Former Professor of Dhaka University; Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam, Managing Director & CEO of Agrani Bank Limited; Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia Limited; Dr. Md. Mafizur Rahman, Managing Director of SME Foundation; Md. Jaker Hossain, General Manager of Bangladesh Bank made comments as designated discussants.
Director General of BIBM said, output of the study along with opinions and observations made today will help stakeholder to take future actions.
A good number of participants including senior bank executives, academicians, media representatives, faculty members of BIBM took part in the online seminar.
